Applications are invited for FIVE Birbal Sahni Research Scholars (BSRSs) tenable at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, Lucknow.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND AGE LIMIT:

M Sc in Botany/Geology/equivalent subjects with high academic attainments both at graduate and postgraduate levels. Preference will be given to CSIR/UGCINET qualified candidates. Age Limit: 28 years as on April 01, 2012. A relaxation of age- limit upto 3 years may be considered by the competent authority in the case of applicants who are suitably qualified and have research training/teaching experience in relevant discipline. In the case of applications of Schedul ed Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Classes, age relaxation upto 5 years may be allowed. For PH candidates, the age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India rules.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION :

The candidates who have M Sc Degree in Botany should have Geology as one of the main subjects at B Sc level and the candidates who have M Sc Degree in Geology should have Botany as one of the ma in subjects at BSc level.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:

1. The tenure of the Birbal Sahni Research Scholar is two years. The Research Scholar shall be entitled to a scholarship amount of Rs. 16,OOO/-PM during the first and second year. After the period of two years, the progress report of the Research Scholar will be assessed along with publications/accepted research papers, research reports, etc. by a Committee constituted by the Director. If found satisfactory, the Research Scholar may be allowed to continue for the third year with the scholarship amount of Rs.18,OOO/- pm.

2. Candidates who have appeared in M Sc fin al year examination but the results are awaited may also apply.

3. Only the Indi an citizens normally residing in India are eligible for Research Scholars.

4. Mere fulfilling of the minimum advertised qualification and experience requirements do not automatically entitle an applicant to be called for test and/or interview.

5. All the applications received within the due date in response to th is advertisement shall be considered for shortlisting by a Screening Committee and only the candidates recommended by Screening Committee will be called for test and/or interview. The decision of the Institute on short- li sting will be final and the Institute will not entertain any correspondence in this respect.

6. The number of Scholarships may vary. The Institute reserves the right not to fill up any of the Scholarships applied for.

7. The award of Scholarship shall not imply any assurance or guarantee for subsequent employment at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, Lucknow.

8. Usual infrastructure facilities for research purpose will be provided by the Institute. The nomination of the Supervisor and Co-Supervisor (if need be) for Birbal Sahni Research Scholar and the placement of the Birbal Sahni Research Scholars in various ProjectsiDepartments will be made by the Director.

9. HRA and medical benefits may be allowed as per the Staff Rules of the Institute.

10. No Research Scholar will be allowed to discontinue his/her scholarship without
prior approval of the Institute.

11. Each Research Scholar will have to sign an agreement along with the terms and
conditions with the Institute for the award of Birbal Sahni Research Scholarship to him/her before joining.

HOW TO APPLY
