About the workshop Right steps in a right direction at a right time must be taken to get right results. That’s why it is called that “well begin is half done”. It means how to start and manage the whole process of any event requires extra care. Researcher clear that methodology not contents decide the future of any event. Keeping in view the necessity of research methodology, this programmer is formulated by Department of Biological Science, Institute of Science and Technology Gauhati University for research scholars and young scientist who are pursuing their research activities in biomedical Science and other allied areas, the workshop will help the participants acquaint themselves with the dynamic trends of research methodology which may shape their research work in the right direction. This workshop will provide promotional and learning platform. Scientist and research scholar would explore and analyze their own educational practices systematically and put these techniques effectively in their classroom teaching.
The workshop intends to offer an intensive discussion and practical training in some of the most widely used statistical tools with the help of Statistical Package for
Social Science (SPSS). The workshop therefore will use different formats like instruction, discussion, and exercise to facilitate active involvement and participation among the participants. This workshop is expected to enhance the research capacity of the individual participants and in turn, this will add to the advantage of their respective institutions.
Salient features and Objective of the workshop:
Hands on learning and practice of SPSS under the supervision of reputed experts in the field.
Refresh on the concepts on basic research methodology and basic statistical theory of estimation & hypothesis testing
Understand the effects of sample size on clinical results and sample size calculations methodology
Set up a database in SPSS, perform simple manipulations on the data, and create charts and simple descriptive statistics
Understand the statistical concepts for the various methods of statistical analysis for different outcome measures
Understand the theory of setting up statistical models for different outcome measures
