About the Event

The Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI) established in 1938 is one of the oldest and reputed scientific organizations of the country. The Association publishes a quarterly journal, “Indian Journal of Microbiology” for the last 45 years and holds a National convention annually at one of the well-established centers of microbiology in the country. At present, there are more than 2500 life and annual members and about 400 corporate members of the Association.

The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack chapter of the AMI was established in June 1996 as a constituent unit. With the establishment of several new institutes like IIT-Bhubaneswar, AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, NISER, Institute of Life Sciences (DBT) etc., along with other established institutes already existing like Utkal University, Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, KIIT University, SOA University, CIFA, RMRC, RPRC, CTCRI & CRRI, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack region has emerged as the hub of scientific research and education with emphasis on the disciplines of Microbiology and Biotechnology. The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack chapter of AMI has now been revamped to spread the message of Microbiology research and education in this area.
